Want to Be Active and Healthy?

Many modern workers are looking for jobs that allow them to remain active and healthy while working. For many people, an office job that requires you to sit and stare at a computer from 9 to 5 just is not appealing. Some people who have office jobs find themselves experiencing certain health problems, such as eyestrain, sore muscles and even weight gain. As older workers find jobs after retirement and younger workers find jobs to make a career switch, jobs that involve lots of physical activity or time outdoors are gaining popularity. When looking for jobs, try to consider criteria other than salary. Think about the potential health benefits of the jobs you find and determine whether the jobs require activity levels that are right for you. Many successful workers have jobs they love that also keep them happy and healthy.

  • Field Service Technician Jobs – Many field service technician jobs involve working in the great outdoors. Electric and telecommunication companies, for example, require a large number of these technicians to help handle customer queries or problems. Many field service technicians are independent contractors who work with clients. Field service technician jobs may require a lot of local travel. These jobs are a great way to combine technical knowledge, skills and training with a love of the outdoors.

  • Delivery Jobs – Depending on the area, delivery jobs may require a lot of time outside. Delivery jobs may be found in every industry, which allows a lot of flexibility in terms of training and skill level. Some delivery jobs involve driving a vehicle from place to place. Other delivery jobs involve walking or biking outdoors while taking care of the customer’s order. Delivery jobs are a rewarding branch of the customer service industry.

  • Construction Jobs – Construction and other skilled labor jobs provide an opportunity to combine a love of building or creating with a passion for being outside. Many construction jobs require time outside throughout a project’s completion. Construction jobs vary, but some require a great deal of physical activity, which many construction workers love.

  • Operator Jobs – Operator jobs vary widely, but many large machine operators or operators who work on construction projects have the opportunity to work outside. Depending on the type of job and machine, operators also have the chance to do physical work. These jobs are ideal for people who enjoy machinery and helping it to work and also love to work outside as the project requires.

  • Installer Jobs – Security systems, cable, air conditioning units, solar panels, satellites and decks all have to be installed. These are some of the popular positions that installers find across the country. Installers typically travel between jobs several times per day and meet with clients. Technical skills are a must, as is additional training for each particular type of installation job. These jobs are interesting and never the same. Installation jobs often require some work outdoors and indoors, which provides a wonderful balance between these two environments.

  • Personal Trainer Jobs – Many Americans want to lose weight, and one of the best ways to do so is to hit the gym. Yet many gym goers cannot manage to perform at their best on their own. That is when they hire a personal trainer. Personal trainers often work individually with clients or with small groups of clients to help them lose weight and get in shape. Many personal trainer jobs require some specialization; for example, some personal trainers focus exclusively on weight loss or sports training. Personal trainers often work out with their clients, so they benefit from the physical exercise as well.

  • Parks and Recreation Jobs – If you enjoy working outside with flowers and plants, you might love a job with your local parks and recreation department, or with a private company in need of landscape or grounds assistance. Landscape architects, for example, work with companies to design the grounds of new or existing buildings and campuses. This industry is ideal for people who love to work outside and keep the outdoors looking beautiful for others.
